CAPRA-EQ is the new CAPRA module for stochastic modeling of seismic hazard used in risk analysis, reduction and management. This software is the result of continuous and collaborative work between the CAPRA team and Universidad de Los Andes. The algorithm implemented in the software for the generation of stochastic scenarios requires the definition of a source model containing fault properties, such as the geometry and seismicity parameters, a ground shaking model specifying the attenuation law to be used in each source, and the designation of calculation parameters such as the fault grid resolution and discretization of the magnitude recurrence curve. The output is an *.AME file containing the main information of each scenario required for the reconstruction of the seismic hazard in the CAPRA-GIS platform.
