The Probabilistic Risk Assessment Initiative
CAPRA is a free and modular platform for risk analysis and decision making, which applies probabilistic techniques to hazard and loss assessment. The platform was designed from the start to be modular and extensible. Hazard information is combined with exposure and physical vulnerability data, allowing the user to determine conjoint or cascade risk on an inter-related multi-hazard basis, distinguishing the platform from previous single hazard analyses. The CAPRA suite of software includes hazard mapping1, risk assessment and cost-benefit analysis tools to support pro-active risk management. CAPRA can also be used to design risk-financing strategies.

Risk Analysis
One of the main products of CAPRA is the development of a software platform, focused on probabilistic risk analysis of several natural hazards.
This platform is CAPRA-GIS (developed by ERN-AL), which is a Geographic Information System oriented to risk calculations, based on hazard representation, exposure definition and vulnerability assessment.
Community
The CAPRA Community is a virtual network of experts in Disaster Risk Management and in Probabilistic Risk Assesment.
This network is a space to exchange knowledge and best practices in Probailistic Risk Assesment.
TAPs
A TAP is a Technical Assistance Program to provide training on probabilistic hazard or disaster risk modeling utilizing the CAPRA Platform.
A TAP is designed for an specific risk management process or development program that contributes to the definition of public policies and programs for disaster risk reduction.
1 and 2 Hazard mapping tools in the case of floods are not developed. A visualization of the AMEs can be done through CAPRA GIS but with the available tools it is not possible to create a flood hazard map for land use planning.
